In a defining moment for Africa and her global descendants, Her Regal Majesty, Olori Ambassador (Dr) Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, Queen Mother of the African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU), officially presented the Diaspora Private Citizenship Bill to Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko at the National Assembly.
The event marked a historic step in the push for African reintegration, remembrance, and restoration of identity for millions in the diaspora.

As the Queen Mother of AFRIDU, she stands at the forefront of a transformative movement that seeks to reconnect the descendants of Africa forcibly scattered across the world with their ancestral homeland—not just symbolically, but through meaningful legislation, recognition, and citizenship.
“Today, history echoed in the halls of power,” she declared following the bill's presentation. “This bill is not just a legislative document—it is a declaration of remembrance, inclusion, and return. It is a bridge between Africa and her descendants, calling them home with dignity and belonging.”
The Diaspora Private Citizenship Bill, if passed, will establish legal pathways for African descendants in the diaspora to acquire private citizenship in African nations, beginning with Nigeria.
The bill addresses centuries of disconnection caused by slavery, colonialism, and migration, offering a formal and respectful mechanism for reintegration.
Senator Ned Nwoko, a prominent lawmaker known for his work in diaspora affairs and Pan-African development, received the bill with enthusiasm and pledged support for its progress through legislative channels.

“To every soul in the diaspora: You are not forgotten. You are Africa. And this is your homecoming.”
