In a symbolic and high-level engagement that highlighted the convergence of tradition, leadership, and gender advocacy, the Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Lagos, CP Okunade Ronke Nurat, FSI, on Monday, 16th June 2025, received Her Majesty, Olori Ashley Afolasade Adeyeye Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, at the PSFU headquarters, Sunday Adewusi House, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The courtesy visit, attended by the Unit’s management team and key officers, was anchored on shared values of tradition, unity, gender balance, girl-child education, and fostering mutual respect between traditional institutions and law enforcement agencies.
In her address, Her Majesty Olori Ashley Afolasade Ogunwusi lauded the Commissioner of Police for her commitment to service and her exemplary leadership as a female helmswoman of a critical police formation.
The Olori expressed pride in seeing women occupy such significant positions and reaffirmed her dedication to promoting the role of women in national development.
“I am happy to witness a woman leading such a vital arm of our nation’s security. It is not only inspiring but a call to other women to continue making impactful contributions to their communities and the country,” Olori Ashley remarked.
She further offered fervent prayers for CP Okunade Ronke Nurat, seeking divine protection, wisdom, and strength for her in the discharge of her duties.
In her response, the Commissioner of Police thanked the Olori for the honour of the visit and emphasised the relevance of traditional institutions in fostering public trust and social cohesion.
CP Nurat noted that women in leadership often exhibit resilience, integrity, and spiritual grounding—qualities essential to transformative governance.
“We acknowledge the significance of the Crown in nation-building, and this visit is a testimony to the unity we must all embrace. Women, when given the chance, lead with both compassion and courage,” the CP stated.
She reaffirmed the PSFU’s readiness to collaborate with traditional institutions to deepen community policing, reinforce gender inclusion, and support girl-child education across Nigeria.
The visit ended on a note of cultural pride and mutual commitment to societal advancement, as both women leaders exchanged goodwill and pledged continued partnership in building a safer, more inclusive Nigeria.
