The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Wednesday hosted the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the historic Ile-Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, where issues of development, governance, and the timely completion of critical infrastructure projects in the ancient city took centre stage.
Governor Adeleke, who was on a courtesy visit, arrived at the palace accompanied by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, alongside top government officials, commissioners, and party supporters. He was received with traditional honour by the Ooni, eminent monarchs, palace chiefs, and dignitaries.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Adeleke expressed his admiration for the Ooni, describing him as a charismatic and highly respected royal father. He noted that his presence in Ile-Ife formed part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to monitor developmental projects and ensure that governance continues to positively impact the people.
“I am always happy to see Kabiyesi. You are very charismatic. I am in Ife for an empowerment programme and to inspect ongoing projects, including road constructions and the Lagere Flyover. Where necessary, we will ensure that contractors are directed to accelerate work for timely delivery,” the governor stated.
In his remarks, the Ooni commended Governor Adeleke’s leadership style, particularly highlighting his humility, simplicity, and commitment to inclusive governance across Osun State. He observed that the administration’s developmental footprint is becoming increasingly visible across various communities.
“I greet our governor for his honesty and simplicity in shaping Osun State. You have demonstrated that leadership is about service to all, not a select few. Your projects are spread across the state, and our people can now see the impact,” the Ooni said.
While acknowledging the progress made, the revered monarch urged the governor to intensify efforts toward the timely completion of ongoing projects in Ile-Ife. He specifically emphasized the importance of accelerating work on the Lagere Flyover and key road networks within the city.
Describing Lagere as a strategic hub for economic and social activities, the Ooni noted that the project holds immense significance for residents across the Ife Federal Constituency, including Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, and Ife South local government areas.
“Lagere is a vital point for economic and social activities in this region. Its timely completion will greatly ease movement and boost commerce. We appeal that the pace of work be accelerated for the benefit of our people,” he added.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, the Ooni offered prayers for peace, stability, and a credible democratic process. He called on political stakeholders to prioritize unity and the collective interest of the state above all else.
“As the election approaches, I pray for peaceful conduct and continued progress in Osun State. May your administration sustain its good works for the overall development of our people,” the monarch concluded, offering royal blessings to the governor.
