Osun NUJ Excos Visit Ooni’s Media Director, Push for Stronger Media Partnership


The executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, as part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration.

According to a statement by the Senior Media Officer of the palace, Sodiq Lawal, the visit took place at the palace press office and was aimed at fostering stronger professional relationships between the union and key stakeholders in the state.

Speaking during the visit, the Osun NUJ Chairman, Adeyemi Aboderin, said the delegation formally introduced themselves following their recent election to lead the affairs of journalists in the state. He added that the engagement was also to seek the support and cooperation of the Ooni’s Palace in advancing responsible journalism and promoting Yoruba cultural heritage.

Aboderin emphasized the vital role of the media in shaping public perception and preserving tradition, stressing that the NUJ remains committed to upholding ethical standards and professionalism in reportage.

In his response, Otunba Moses Olafare congratulated the newly elected executives, describing their emergence as a call to greater service and responsibility.

He commended journalists in Osun State for their consistent efforts in projecting the image and activities of the Ooni’s Palace, noting that the media has remained a dependable partner in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ile-Ife to the global community.

Olafare urged the NUJ leadership to uphold the principles of fairness, accuracy, and objectivity, while also leveraging their platforms to promote peace and unity across the state.

He reaffirmed the palace’s commitment to sustaining a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the media, adding that the Ooni of Ife remains a unifying father figure and a foremost advocate of cultural diplomacy and national cohesion.
