Godwin Emefiele, CBN Governor
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has insisted that the deadline for the return of old naira notes to banks remains January 31st, 2023.
The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele stated on Saturday during a Press briefing at the Bank Headquarters in Abuja.
The Apex Bank Boss noted that there is no necessity for an extension, adding the Bank has given enough time frame for the exercise.
The position of the CBN implies that the old Naira Notes of N200, N500 and N1000 will cease to be accepted as legal tenders beginning 1st February, 2023.
