Residents have been thrown into tension following the report of the abduction of eight workers of an Oil Company by suspected gunnmen in Lagos.

The workers were reportedly on their way to Apapa, after the close of work, when they were abducted by the gunmen.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident. Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement addressed journalists on Wednesday said that the eight workers who were suspected to have been kidnapped, left their office on June 26, at about 6pm when they were last seen.

He said: ” The victims boarded a boat at a jetty on the island. They had not been seen since then.”

"Meanwhile, the boat was found around Ikorodu and a manhunt has been launched for the suspected gunmen.”

The gunmen were believed to have hijacked the oil company workers and transferred them into another speed boat.
