President Tinubu In Full Support of War Against Corruption, EFCC Chair Olukoyede Says As He Visits Ooni of Ife


Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), Ola Olukoyede has said that the commission is enjoying the full backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its fight against corruption in the country.

Olukoyede stated this on Wednesday in Ile-Ife while paying a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II at His palace.

He was received at the Ooni's Palace alongside the Acting Zonal Director of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC, Hauwa Garba Ringim and other top management officials of the commission.

Speaking at the occasion, Olukoyede who said the visit was part of the Commission's community and critical stakeholders engagement activities in the joint effort to fighting corruption, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s support and provision of enabling atmosphere for the Commission's anti-graft activities.

He thanked the Ooni for his fatherly support and prayers which he said has been very instrumental in this his administration.

"Mr President is very supportive in this war against corruption in the country and this has been a major driving force behind our success so far.

"He has never for once called me to interfere in the case involving any corrupt government official but instead encourages us to keep up the good work.

The Chairman further stressed the need to end corruption as a major bane of development facing the country.

"People are suffering in this country in the midst of plenty and this is because the resources meant for the citizens are being seized by the people entrusted to manage it. This has to stop", he added.

The Ooni in his remarks, appreciated the Chairman and his team for their visit and encourage them to sustain the struggle.

Ooni Enitan also lauded President Tinubu for providing enabling environment for the Commission's campaign against corruption, describing his role as a true reflection of the Omoluabi ethos.

"I want to thank you and your team very greatly for this visit and to assure you that you have us on this throne at your back in your efforts at making this country better.

"I also want to commend Mr President for giving you the opportunity to do your work very professionally. This is nothing but a reflection of a true Omoluabi and I want to encourage him to sustain this", Ooni added.
