Step-by-Step Guide: How to Check Your 2025 JAMB UTME Result Online and via SMS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing a significant performance gap among candidates.

According to the detailed statistical breakdown made public on Monday, only 420,415 candidates out of the total 1,955,069 who sat for the exam scored above 200.

This figure represents just 25% of the total number of candidates. An overwhelming 75% scored below the 200-mark threshold, highlighting growing concerns over academic performance in Nigeria’s education system.

Additionally, JAMB revealed that fewer than 1% of the candidates scored above 300 in the nationwide examination, a further indication of the challenges facing tertiary admission aspirants this year. Among those who sat for the exam were 40,247 underage candidates, permitted under special dispensation to demonstrate exceptional ability.

However, only 467 candidates (1.16%) from this group met the performance benchmark considered as exceptional in the UTME. JAMB noted that further assessments will follow in three additional stages to fully evaluate these candidates’ capacities.

The 2025 UTME was held nationwide beginning on Thursday, April 24, across various computer-based testing (CBT) centres.

To check their results, candidates can either use the JAMB eFacility portal or the SMS method. To check online, candidates should visit https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/login, log in using the email address and password they used for registration, and then click the “Check UTME Results” button to view their scores.

Alternatively, to check via SMS, candidates should open their messaging app, compose a new message by typing “RESULT” followed by their JAMB Registration Number, and send it to 55019 or 66019. A reply SMS containing the UTME scores for each subject will be sent. This service attracts a N50 charge, deducted from the user’s mobile airtime.
