Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is set to host a high-profile official visit by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in a landmark event that underscores collaboration between academia, traditional authority, and national leadership.
The visit, scheduled for Thursday, 29th January 2026, was formally announced in a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar, Obafemi Awolowo University, and addressed to all members of the university community.
According to the notice, the First Lady’s visit will feature the official commissioning and handover of fifty (50) buses and ten (10) tricycles, generously donated by Her Excellency to support transportation and mobility within the university community. The donation is expected to significantly enhance campus logistics and welfare.
A major highlight of the visit will also be the official commissioning and handover of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre, a landmark facility commissioned by His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife. The centre stands as a symbol of shared commitment to human development, education, and empowerment.
The university management has informed staff and students that enhanced security arrangements and access control measures will be in effect across the campus throughout the duration of the visit. Members of the university community are therefore enjoined to cooperate fully with security personnel, comply with all official directives, and conduct themselves with utmost decorum.
Further details regarding movement restrictions and programme schedules, the university noted, will be communicated as appropriate.
The university community has also been encouraged to accord Her Excellency and other distinguished guests a warm and dignified reception, befitting their exalted offices and the significance of the occasion.
