In a defining moment of youth empowerment, cultural prestige, and purposeful leadership, the Nigeria Cadet Network, Osun State Command, has formally honoured Her Regal Majesty, Olori Dr. Ambassador Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, with the distinguished title of State Royal Grand Matron.
The historic investiture ceremony, held at the palace of Ooni of Ife in Ile-Ife, brought together an array of eminent personalities including traditional rulers, international dignitaries, security stakeholders, and education advocates, all united by a shared vision of youth development and community protection.
Among the high-profile African delegates present were HRH King Robinson Tanyi (Cameroon), Amb. Godfrey Madanhire (South Africa), Amb. Brig. General Wallace Williams (Nigeria), Amb. Ireneo Omositson Namboka (Uganda), and HRM Peter Bolonjo Ngando (Cameroon), underscoring the continental significance of the occasion.
The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa, was ably represented at the event by HRM Oba Adekunle Adebowale Agbolu of Agbaje-Ife Kingdom, who commended the initiative as timely and impactful, particularly in strengthening moral values, discipline, and safety consciousness among young Nigerians.
Kabiyesi Agbolu further described Olori Temitope as a globally respected humanitarian and advocate whose far-reaching impact continues to resonate across Africa and beyond through her work with the Hopes Alive Initiative for Africa (HAI), noting that her commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities has earned her widespread recognition and admiration.
A major highlight of the event was the official launch and distribution of 35,000 “Educate to Protect” books targeted at secondary schools across the South-West region. The initiative, championed by the Nigeria Cadet Network, is designed to equip students with critical knowledge on personal safety, child protection, responsible behaviour, and emergency awareness.
In his opening remarks, Aux. Amb. Commander Adegboyega Samuel Oluwadamilare, Osun State Commander and National Director of Media and Publicity of the Nigeria Cadet Network, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the intellectual and moral development of the younger generation.
According to him, “a single book can change a life, a classroom filled with books can transform a school, and a generation empowered through education and safety awareness can transform a nation.”
He further emphasized that beyond academics, the programme seeks to instill discipline, vigilance, and a culture of self-protection among students.
In her acceptance speech, Her Regal Majesty, Olori Dr. Ambassador Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi expressed deep gratitude for the honour bestowed upon her, describing it as both a privilege and a call to greater service.
“I receive this honour with profound humility and a deep sense of responsibility. This investiture is not just a title—it is a mandate to serve, to nurture, and to protect the future of our nation through our children.”
She noted that the initiative aligns strongly with her long-standing commitment to societal development, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, education, and community welfare.
“The ‘Educate to Protect’ initiative speaks directly to the heart of sustainable development. When we educate a child, we empower a future; when we protect a child, we secure a nation.”
Olori Temitope also used the moment to acknowledge and appreciate the unwavering support behind her journey.
“I dedicate this honour to my husband, His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan-Ogunwusi, whose support, guidance, and essence continue to inspire all that I do and all that I have become.”
She further commended the Nigeria Cadet Network for its visionary approach to youth development and safety education.
“These books represent more than pages—they carry knowledge, awareness, and the power to shape character, build confidence, and inspire responsibility in our young people.”
Reaffirming her commitment, she pledged to continue supporting initiatives that promote education, safety, and responsible leadership among the younger generation.
“I also call on well-meaning individuals, organisations, and stakeholders to support this noble initiative, as the vision is to expand its reach beyond the South-West to impact children across Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, the visiting continental monarchs and dignitaries expressed profound admiration for the rich cultural heritage and global significance of the Ife Kingdom, describing it as a unifying spiritual and historical centre for people of African descent.
They also commended both the Ooni of Ife and Olori Temitope for their sustained humanitarian efforts, cultural diplomacy, and initiatives that continue to promote unity, development, and collaboration across Africa and the diaspora.
The event concluded on a high note with renewed calls for collaboration between government institutions, traditional authorities, and civil society in promoting child safety, quality education, and national development.
With this landmark initiative, Ile-Ife once again reaffirms its enduring legacy as the cradle of Yoruba civilization and a beacon of cultural leadership, now extending its influence into transformative educational advocacy.
