Facebook Expands AI Reel Translations to 18 Languages, Helping Creators Reach Global Audiences

Facebook and Instagram have expanded their AI-powered Reels translation feature, introducing support for nine additional languages and bringing the total number of supported languages to 18.

The feature automatically dubs creators’ voices and uses AI-powered lip-sync technology to match their speech, making videos appear as though they were originally recorded in another language. The goal is to help creators connect with audiences around the world without having to record multiple versions of the same content.

On Facebook, the newly added languages include French, Indonesian, Arabic, Thai, and Vietnamese.

On Instagram, creators can now translate Reels into Japanese, Korean, French, German, and Italian.

According to Meta, AI translations on Facebook are available to creators with 1,000 or more followers, while all public Instagram accounts can access the feature.

The update is expected to make it easier for creators, businesses, publishers, and digital storytellers to expand their global reach, increase engagement, and connect with audiences across different languages.

Meta says creators can try the feature on their next Reel as the company continues to expand AI-powered content tools across its platforms.
