IFE ANCIENT CITY HALL "ILE NLA" TAKES A FACELIFT AHEAD OF THE 2021 OLOJO FESTIVAL


As the preparation for the 2021 edition of the World famous Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife gathers momentum, the City's ancient and historical Hall would not be spared from the array of activities being put in places to once again ensure a colourful celebrations.

This is as works have commenced on the renovation of the wearing ceiling of the ancient and highly historical structure which is one of the heritage masterpieces located in the Ilé Oòduà, the Palace, a project being executed by the serving Honourable Member of the House of Representatives, representing Ife Federal Constituency, Honourable Taofeeq Abimbola Ajilesoro.

The Lawmaker in a statement obtained through his Media Office on Wednesday maintained that the renovation of the building becomes imperative based on its historical relevance and in the city and the need to prepare it for the renowned Festival slated for September ending.

"Having been properly intimated of the deterioration level of the Ceiling of Ife historical building inside Ooni's Palace called ILE-NLA, the proactive Lawmaker representing Ife federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro has swiftly commenced the renovation of the said historical building even as Ife get set for the celebration of this year, 2021 Olojo festival.

"Those who know the historical value of the building inside Ooni's place, called ILE-NLA, would appreciate the proactive measures taken by our performing Lawmaker at improving the appearance of the Ceiling of Ile-Nla Hall which has become so moribund to the point of declining", the statement read in part.

Honourable Ajilesoro in the statement appreciated the kind observation of an eminent Chief in the palace, Chief Oyeyemi Oriowo, the Sarun Oodua who called the deteriorating state of the Building's ceiling to his attention, adding that the renovation is being fast-tracked to make it ready before the Festival.


"Appreciation to the Saarun Oodua, Mr Oyeyemi Oriowo, who drew the attention of the lawmaker towards the deteriorating Ceiling of the building our forebears inside Ooni Palace.

"This ongoing renovation project is expected to be completed as quickly as possible before this year, 2021 OLOJO FESTIVAL which is billed to commence September 24TH, 2021", he said.
