A ward Congress of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State on Wednesday turned violent, leaving several people injured and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
According to an eyewitness account posted on Facebook by a resident of the town, violence broke out at around 5pm at the Party's Secretariat during the election of its ad-hoc Ward delegates.
The violence according to the source was allegedly perpetrated by armed political thugs who unleashed mayhem while the Congress was on.
While it could not be ascertained as of press time for any casualty, sources however claimed a particular man was seriously injured and his state of health remains inconclusive at the moment.
Security operatives were said to have moved to the area to contain the situation.
