IFECITYBLOG had reported that protest broke out at the institution following the announcement of a new Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. A.S. Bamire, a professor of Agricultural Economics by the institution's Governing Council on Thursday.

The people, it was gathered are expressing a displeasure over the new appointment, saying that an indigene of the ancient town should have be appointed instead.

They argued that it is unfair on their part that non of their sons had ruled as a substantive head of the institution since over sixty years of its establishment.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Owelle Oscar while announcing the new VC at a press conference had however maintained that the university had followed due process in the selection.
