National Ife Descendants Students Association (NIDSA) National Secretariat has reported that more than 900 students have so far enrolled in its ongoing 2022 NIDSA Annual Free Summer School currently taking place in the ancient city of Ile-Ife.
In a chat with our correspondent, the National Public Relations Officer, NIDSAN Oluwaseun Adeoye disclosed that over 900 participants across Junior and Senior Secondary School Classes are currently enrolled, with a target of 2,500 beneficiaries.
This year's edition holding at the prestigious Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife, kick-started on Monday, 1st of August and is set to run through till Friday, 9th of September, 2022.
This six-weeks long program, according to Adeoye is scheduled into five weeks of intensive lectures and examination, and the final week featuring various extra-curricular activities, career talks, vocational training and Grand Finale/Prize Giving Day.
He added that this iconic community service project which was initiated in 1983 is geard towards raising the standard of qualitative education and breeding future scholars. He noted that over a hundred young volunteer teachers are actively involved in this project.
It was further disclosed that the 2022 edition is being sponsored by a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Sen. (Dr.) Iyiola Omisore, with financial support from Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro, adding that further support in all kinds can be directed to the National President (09077900944), Chairperson, Academic Committee (08073155650) and Vice-Chairman (08162016692).
Earlier in the preceding week, members of the association had taken to the street to create awareness about programme.
