Ooni Launches New NGO, Appoints Ex AIT Staff DG

The Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has concluded plans to unveil a nongovernmental organization with the name; Ooni Ojaja Development Initiative.

The Ooni in a statement by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, noted that the Ojaja Development Initiative is a project structured to address the gap between government and the governed, enhance more youth and women's participation in processes leading to governance and make the government more acceptable to the masses among others.

Olafare added that the NGO which he said has been duely registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, will be committed to enhancing local communities and life of Nigerians across the country through Safe and Inclusive civic participation, advocacy campaigns, evidence based research, capacity building and stakeholder engagements.

The organization, it was noted, is prepared to achieve the stated objectives by enhancing Nigerians access to information, providing enabling structures and implementing sustainable initiatives.

Olafare in the statement further revealed the appointment of Dr. Olushola Aluko, a renowned communication expert and former staff of AIT Network Service by the Ooni as the Director General of the organization.

"The Ooni has appointed Dr. Olushola Aluko Okpodu as the Director General to head the NGO – a Veteran Newscaster and ex staff of AIT Network Service. Renowned Media & Development Communication Expert with 25 years experience. 

"She had a stint as Head of Programmes and Presentation with RayPower FM, before she delved into the International development sector as a Senior National / Regional Consultant with Oxford Policy Management United Kingdom, on Oil Sector Transparency and Reforms, the United Nations, Government Parastatals and Foreign Media.", Olafare added.
