No fewer than nine persons were feared dead on Sunday when a container fell on a commercial mini bus popularly known as Korope.
Eyewitness reports that the incident occurred at the busy Ojuelegba, inwards Fadeyi, Lagos State.
Video posted online shows emmergency responders including officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and the FRSC helping to clear off the debris from the crash site.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that the truck bearing the container lost control while climbing the bridge.
He said, “Upon arrival at the scene, a truck conveying a 20ft container was found to have landed on top of a commercial bus.
“Investigation revealed that the bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge.
Reports of similar incidents involving containers have been frequent on the country's highways.
