Palace Fire Incident: Lawmaker Sympathises With Ooni, Assured Intervention


The lawmaker representing the Ife federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro has sympathised with the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, over the inferno that razed down a building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace.

In a statement personally signed by the lawmaker, Ajilesoro said it was a rude shock when the news of the inferno got to him on Saturday afternoon. He, however, thanked God no life was recorded lost during the ugly incident and prayed that God will not let it happen again. 

Hon. Ajilesoro assured the foremost traditional Yoruba monarch that he and his family members have started putting heads together to know the next line of action on the building.

"Kabiyesi, I want to assure you, as a bonafide and patriotic son of Ife, we shall do everything possible to protect the oldest Yoruba heritage and sanctity. Baba, be rest assured you are not alone in this Sir," Hon Ajilesoro assured. 

The fire incident was triggered by a power surge which exploded through electrical appliances in the affected apartment and happened around 11:30 pm on Friday inside Ooni's Palace. 

It was gathered that the inferno through the urgent intervention of Sarun Oodua, Chief Oriowo Oyeyemi and other palace Emergency Control Unit, did not spread beyond the affected building located at a section of the palace premises as it was later put off by the Government Fire Service and no single casualty was recorded.
