One striking feature that has been noticed in one of the wives of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Ashley Afolasade Ogunwusi has been her strong dispositions with the Olokun spirituality.

The Queen has ever since becoming the wife of the revered monarch has been known for her active roles at key festivals and traditional activities in the city.

Olori Ashley who also holds the title of the Yeye Omi Oodua, revealed her connection with the Olokun in a recent post on social media while announcing the 2023 edition of the annual world Olokun festival.

"Ose Olokun has come upon us which is also my birth week. Olokun is the Orisha of great wealth and the Orisha of the bottom of the sea. Olokun is revered as all bodies of water and for the authority over other water deities.

"As Olokun myself, with my fluid nature, I melt gently into the ripples of life. Water in me is very powerful, it can wash away the earth, put out fire and even destroy iron.

"Water will carve its way through stones and mountains, but when trapped, water makes its own way.

"She is water, powerful enough to drown you, soft enough to cleanse you and deep enough to save you. Olokun is highly praised for their ability to give great wealth, health and prosperity to their followers."
