The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commissioned a 0.0025-kilometer road in Ile-Ife as part of his administration’s urban renewal agenda.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Adedipo Eluwole, the governor officially opened the road located in Parakin, Obalufe area of Ile-Ife.
Commending the donor, Mr. Ebenezer Fashogbon, Adeleke appreciated his efforts to improve the lives of his community and Ile-Ife residents.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to progress across Osun State, including ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Ile-Ife flyover, which has been extended to Ojafe and will feature dual lanes and streetlights.
“This type of personal development should complement government efforts to ensure a better life for our people,” Adeleke stated.
Senator Babajide Omoworare, former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, emphasized the need for community members to contribute to local development.
“A tree does not make a forest. Government alone cannot meet every need, but with contributions, however small, we can achieve progress,” Omoworare said. He urged philanthropists to emulate Mr. Fashogbon, stressing that improved roads would reduce vehicle maintenance costs for residents.
The road donor, Mr. Ebenezer Fashogbon, expressed gratitude to God and appreciated his wife, Mrs. Ndidi Fashogbon, for inspiring him to undertake the project.
Based in Australia for 34 years, Fashogbon pledged to encourage other diaspora members to contribute to the development of their hometowns.
The Obalufe of Ifeland, Oba Idowu Adediwura, commended Mr. Fashogbon and his wife for their generous contribution. He also called on other diaspora citizens to support the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the government in bringing development to the area.
Engr. Olawale Atoyebi, the project engineer, guaranteed the road’s durability, noting that the construction adhered to specified standards and used 100% quality materials.
Barr. Rotimi Adeyenuwo, the project facilitator, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support and urged others to continue fostering growth and development.
“Though Mr. Fashogbon is not a politician and has lived in Australia for over three decades, he returned home, encouraged by his wife, to contribute meaningfully to his community,” Adeyenuwo stated.
