The Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has paid tribute to Dr. Doyin Okupe, recognizing his contributions to national development and describing him as an illustrious son of Oduduwa.
In a statement signed by Otunba Moses Olafare, Director of Media & Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, the monarch highlighted Dr. Okupe’s dedication to public service, noting his intellect, patriotism, and commitment to democracy and good governance.
“Okupe was a true son of Oduduwa whose contributions to national development remain remarkable. His intellect, courage, and passion for democracy and good governance set him apart as a leader who dedicated his life to service,” the Ooni stated.
According to the Ooni, Okupe played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape through decades of service, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and progressive leadership.
“His transition marks the end of an era, but his impact will continue to be remembered. The legacy of service and leadership he left behind will remain an inspiration to many,” the monarch added.
He further reaffirmed the solidarity of the House of Oduduwa with Okupe’s family, the government and people of Ogun State, and all those reflecting on his life and legacy.
“As we celebrate his legacy, we pray that the Almighty Olodumare grants his soul eternal rest and strengthens his loved ones,” the Ooni concluded.
