Hoodlums Attack Osun Amotekun Command, Injure Five Officers

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has confirmed a violent attack on its command office in Awo, Egbedore Local Government Area, by a gang led by an individual identified as Ismaila Aluko.

In an official statement released on Monday, the corps’ spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, disclosed that the incident occurred over the weekend, following a formal request for assistance by the Oniwoye of Iwoye.

The traditional ruler had alerted the corps to an alleged illegal burial conducted on ancestral land within his jurisdiction.

Responding to the call, four Amotekun operatives were dispatched to the location. However, upon arrival, they discovered that the burial had already taken place.

It was at this point that Ismaila Aluko—identified as a notorious and long-wanted criminal—allegedly emerged from hiding alongside a gang of armed accomplices. The group reportedly launched a violent attack on the operatives, resulting in injuries.

Faced with overwhelming force, the officers executed a tactical withdrawal to their command headquarters in Awo to prevent further escalation. However, the situation deteriorated further when the gang regrouped and mounted a second, more brazen assault—this time targeting the Amotekun command office itself.

“This shocking second attack occurred in the presence of officers from the Nigeria Police Force, a Department of State Services (DSS) official, and family members of the assailants,” Idowu stated.

He added that the attackers attempted to disarm the operatives and inflicted multiple injuries during the encounter.

According to the spokesperson, one Amotekun officer sustained serious injuries, while four others were treated for minor wounds.

Condemning the attack as a serious threat to public peace and security, Idowu reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Osun residents.

He also emphasized that Amotekun is collaborating closely with other security agencies to ensure the prompt arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the attack.

“We remain resolute in our mission to protect our communities and uphold peace and order across the state,” Idowu concluded.
