4 Gold Medals Swept in Tandem B Class as Nigeria Dominates Early Events
Team Nigeria has made a stunning statement at the 2025 CAC Track and Para-Track African Continental Championships, clinching four gold medals in dominant fashion in the Tandem B Class category of the para-cycling events.
The pair of Tijani Daramola and his pilot Okeyah Bethel Temple kicked off Nigeria’s golden campaign in the Men’s Tandem B Class, capturing double gold in both the Sprint and Individual Pursuit events.
Their performance set the tone for what would become a medal-laden day for the Nigerian team.
Not to be outdone, the women’s tandem pair of Favour Omo and pilot Tawakalt Yekeen matched the men’s results with their own double-gold performance in the Women’s Tandem B Class, also sweeping gold in both the Sprint and Individual Pursuit races.
These victories not only highlight Nigeria’s emerging dominance in para-cycling on the continent, but also reflect the impact of targeted support and preparation led by the National Sports Commission.
Under the leadership of Chairman Malam Shehu Dikko and Director General Chief Bukola Olawale Olopade, the team has undergone elite training programs that are now translating into historic results on the international stage.
“We’re not just competing, we’re winning with intent, backed by vision and discipline,” said Joel O. Akinluwa, Secretary General, Cycling Federation of Nigeria, reporting from Cairo.
The Championships continue through the week, with more events and medal opportunities ahead for the Nigerian contingent.
As the cycling world watches, Nigeria is not just making appearances, it’s setting the pace.
