Osun 2026: Ex-Buhari Aide Omoworare Joins Guber Race

A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Babajide Omoworare, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2026 Osun State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker, who previously represented Osun East Senatorial District, unveiled a structured mobilization strategy by inaugurating a three-man coordination team across all 30 local government areas in the state.

This move signals the start of a grassroots-driven campaign aimed at consolidating party support and community engagement.

Omoworare’s declaration drew the presence of prominent APC stakeholders, youth leaders, market associations, and community influencers who expressed strong confidence in his candidacy.

Supporters noted his political pedigree, accessibility, and deep understanding of governance as major advantages that could translate to victory for the APC in the upcoming election.

In his remarks, the former senator expressed gratitude to attendees and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership. He highlighted agricultural transformation as a cornerstone of his vision, pledging to revive dormant farm settlements, enhance irrigation through dam restoration, promote fish farming, and create pathways for food exportation.

According to him, these initiatives would not only achieve food sufficiency but also stimulate job creation and economic growth.

He further urged party members to prioritize unity and conduct a civil, issue-based campaign. “I am a good product,” Omoworare said. “I urge you all to focus on selling the vision we share for a greater Osun. Let us move forward together as one united family.”

With his official entry into the race, Omoworare becomes a key contender to watch within the APC as the 2026 Osun governorship contest begins to take shape.
