The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has paid an emotional tribute to his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as an exemplary son of Ile-Ife whose life was marked by humility, integrity, entrepreneurial excellence and an enduring commitment to humanity.
The revered monarch, who is the Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), described the passing of the respected prince as a profound loss, noting that his demise has left an irreplaceable void within the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
The tribute was conveyed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Senior Media Officer at the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare.
Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, who was born on December 8, 1967, into the family of Pa John Oluropo Ogunwusi of the illustrious Ojaja lineage in the Giesi Ruling House of Ile-Ife, built a distinguished career as one of Nigeria’s accomplished entrepreneurs. He served as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, earning widespread recognition for his visionary leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence in business.
Reflecting on his elder brother’s life, the Ooni said Prince Adetunji’s influence extended far beyond the corporate world, describing him as a compassionate philanthropist who quietly transformed lives through generosity, wise counsel and selfless service.
“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion. His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all.”
The monarch further noted that Prince Adetunji’s legacy transcends business achievements, emphasizing that he consistently upheld the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family through his exemplary character, humility and unwavering commitment to societal progress.
The Ooni prayed for the peaceful repose of his brother’s soul and asked Almighty Olodumare to grant comfort and strength to the immediate family, friends, business associates and everyone whose lives were positively impacted by the late prince.
