The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters ahead of the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The exercise is aimed at ensuring that registered voters who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards have ample opportunity to do so before the governorship poll.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued on Monday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola.
According to the Commission, the first phase of the exercise will take place at Registration Area (Ward) offices across Osun State from Wednesday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, before moving to all INEC Local Government Area offices from Wednesday, July 29 to Friday, August 7, 2026.
INEC stated that PVCs would be available for collection daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., including weekends, to make the exercise more accessible and convenient for eligible voters.
The Commission explained that the exercise is for voters who recently registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, updated their records during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, as well as those with previously uncollected Permanent Voter Cards.
Calling on eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise, the Commission said:
“All registered voters concerned are strongly advised to take advantage of the exercise and collect their PVCs promptly within the stipulated period, as the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day.”
INEC also reminded members of the public that PVC collection must be done personally, warning against any form of proxy collection.
“The Commission hereby reminds voters that PVC collection is strictly personal and it is an offence to do otherwise. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance.”
Reaffirming its commitment to the electoral process, the Commission assured residents of Osun State that preparations for the governorship election remain on course.
“INEC remains committed to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent Governorship Election in Osun State.”
The Commission further encouraged members of the public to contact the nearest INEC Local Government Office or the Osun State INEC Office through its official communication channels for enquiries regarding the PVC collection exercise.
