OSUN EDUCATION: GOVERNOR OYETOLA APPROVES ANOTHER POLICY REVERSAL

The Osun State Governor, Alhaji Isiak Gboyega Oyetola has approved the return of the Teachers' Establishment and Pensions Office (TEPO) to its original name of Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). This reversal was made public in a statement signed by the Coordinating Director of the State Ministry of Education, Mrs. C.K Olaniyan and this according to her becomes operational with immediate effect. TENSION IN OSUN COMMUNITY AS YOUTHS IRATE OVER THE KILLING OF TWO

The Youths in Modakeke town of Osun State are currently angry over the killing of a woman and a young person. The incident, Ife City Blog, learned happened at Alapata area of the town.  The angry youths who staged a protest with a vow to avenge the death of the victims were however addressed by the Monarch of the town, the Ogunsuwa of Modakeke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Oyediran Oladejo Ajonbadi III who appealed for calm, urging them to allow community leaders and security operatives to investigate the matter.  The Public Relations Officer, Madakeke Progressive Union, Venerable Debo Babalola confirmed the killings to Vanguard but without a clear knowledge as to what led to their deaths. “It is true that two persons were killed and the youths are angry, but we don’t know the circumstances surrounding their death yet. “We are investigating the situation and by tomorrow morning, we might have adequate information about the situation”, he said. Governor Gboyega Oyetola The Inisha Town Central Mosque in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State was on Tuesday shut down by the State Government. The closure of the religious institution follows a directive from the state Governor, Isiak Gboyega Oyetola over a protracted leadership tussle in the mosque. "The Government of the State of Osun hereby announces its decision to shut down indefinitely Inisha Town Central Mosque in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the State. The government also banned any central congregation at the Mosque for Eid prayers. This follows the inability of the Muslim Community of the town to peacefully instal a new Imam for the mosque. The Osun State Ministry of Education, Osogbo has announced the dates for Oral Interview for the successful Applicants who scored at least 35% in the recently conducted Teachers' Recruitment Examination. In a statement signed by the Coordinating Director of the Ministry, Mrs. C. K Olaniyan as obtained by Ife City Blog, the interview, it was said will kick-start on Monday 17th May, 2021.  The statement reads in part:  "This is to inform Applicants, especially those who scored 35% and above in the Examination that the Proficiency (Oral) Interview will commence on Monday, 17th, May, 2021 at Designated Centres. BREAKING: 29 ABDUCTED STUDENTS IN KADUNA REGAIN FREEDOM

The remaining 29 kidnapped Students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been released. The students were reported to have been released in a location around Kidanda Community of Giwa Local Government Area of the State. The Chairman of the Parents' Association, Abdullahi Usman confirmed the release of the students to Reuters on Wednesday. The release, Ife City Blog learned was facilitated by Sheikh Gummi Dialogue Committee with the support of the Former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The gunmen had on March 11th 2021 stormed the School premises and abducted 39 Students but later released 10 of them. It is however unclear as of press time whether a ransom of N500 million earlier damanded by the abductors was paid.

GREENFIELD KIDNAPPING: N100M, 10 MOTORCYCLES TO BE PAID AS RANSOM OR PARENTS LOSE THE REMAINING 17 STUDENTS BY MAY 4TH - ABDUCTORS THREATEN

 The abductors of the students of Greenfield University Kasarami, Kaduna State have threatened to end the lives of the remaining 17 victims in their custody if the sum of N100 million and 10 motorcycles are not paid as ransom by tomorrow Tuesday May 4th. This was disclosed by some parents of the the kidnapped students who spoke to Channels TV correspondent on Monday.  The parents said that the fresh demands are in addition to over N50 million paid to the bandits over the weekend with a promise that their children will be freed. Recall that the University campus was on the 20th of April, 2021 invaded by  gunmen and wisked not less than 23 students of the institution into an unknown destination while a staff was also killed and few days later, five of the kidnapped victims were killed by the bandits bringing the death toll in the attack to six.
